Which consulate covers Springfield
Nigeria divides the country by state, and Illinois goes to New York. That rule outranks the mileage.

Same office, same state: Chicago (794 mi), Joliet (806 mi), Evanston (807 mi).
From Springfield, without travelling
What happens online happens the same from anywhere:
- Nigerian visas, lodged at an external centre, never at a consulate
- National Identification Number, issued by the NIMC and needed before any passport application
- Police clearance certificate, requested from the Nigeria Police Force, never from a consulate
